Broadway Nights

The Snake River High School choirs performed their first of 2 "Broadway Nights" shows last night. Let me just say....... Snake River's got Talent!!!

This is the Girls A capella Choir & the Man Choir. It is for the Freshman & Sophomores. Angelea is a part of this choir.

The Chamber Singers is what all Snake River vocalists are aiming for. It's reserved for the best of the best and only upper class men are allowed in. They are truly talented kids with bright futures!

Marlene sang "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" She is the exchange student who is totally leaving her mark in the US!

Nakia's really tall buddy here is Braxton Mecham. He is a totally AWESOME bass singer. He can go lower than anyone I've ever met! He sang "Old Man River"

Varsity Soccer

Nakia is on the high school varsity soccer team this year. She's one of 2 freshman on the team that has 10 seniors. They are doing really good, I think they've only lost 2 games, tied 2 or 3 and won the rest, which is quite a few considering they have 3 games a week! I think they've won 12 or so games. I should probably double check those stats....
Nakia plays a lot! She is one aggressive little munchkin!

August 19th...

It's been almost a month now since school started. I have been so busy that I finally decided to just post some photos with some captions. Makes for a mighty poor journal, but it's probably best not to dig too deep into my mind these days..... It's awfully frightening there :)

Marlene is our oldest daughter. She's 18 and is a senior.

Chavisa, aka Film, is 16. She's a junior.

Angelea is 15 & she's a sophomore.

Nakia, the baby of the high school girls, is 14 & she's a freshman.

I don't think there are many people who have 4 girls in high school, one in each grade. Keeps life interesting, to say the least....

Both Ben & Andy are 10 and are in the 5th grade at the middle school. Ben is in Mrs. Ellis's home room class & Andy is in Mrs. Simmons'

A Few "Firsts"

One of the funnest things about hosting an exchange student is being there to experience a "first" with them. There are many things we have and do that they don't in their countries. So here are a few American firsts for them.......

Film LOVES the big round thing that you go up in the air on! She had to call her Mom and tell her all about this!

GARAGE SALE!!! Now why would we buy other peoples garbage? Hey, I was pretty stoked about the Art Easel I got Francine for $10. As the girls helped me put it in the back of the vehicle, Film said, "We go home and wash this good!"

Can you believe Mountain Dew is an American delicacy?

Both Marlene & Film tried Mountain Dew for the first time & are hooked!

And how about Wal Mart? They love going into Wal Mart, "You can get everything here!"
